The 2008 series of Altered Everything and Everything Altered workshops is HERE.

With a new location, and all new projects, it was impossible to narrow it down to once a month!

The new dates and times will be:

Tuesday evenings from 6 - 9 p.m.

As always, yummy refreshments, all supplies, and a special gift pack will be provided for all recipients at each class.   Classes are taught by ZNE Founder Chel Stroud Hery.

Classes will take place at Poetry on Canvas in downtown Pleasanton!

Mixed Media Pixie Flowers

Using a variety of paper folding techniques we will create floral star bases and embellish them with vintage images, glitter, fibers, and more.

These whimsical creations can be used as wall art, scrapbook and altered book cover embellishment,gifts, special awards, and more!  Your final piece will be guided by your style and color preferences.  The possibilities are endless.  The Mixie Pixie samples shown are only examples.

Saturday Sale Update ~ ZNE Altered Art Supplies!

This Saturday Sale update comes with a quick reminder that tomorrow, Sunday July 22 is the day that ZNE holds its monthly workshop ~ Altered Everything ~ Everything Altered.  We will be creating altered coin holder bookmark booklets.   This event also falls under Saturday Sales though, because Chel will be raiding The ZNE Store and offering for sale lots of goodies for all participants.  This will include altered art and other craft magazines, vintage and new collage packs, vintage sewing supplies, altered art, and more!

All participants will receive 20% off normal retail prices (which are already very low)!

So stop by, create some art, and pick up some goodies so that you can continue your altered art journey - at home.

Wednesday Workshop ~ Altered Coin Holders and Bookmarks!

Wednesday is Workshop Day - and we have another fabulous workshop notice!

Last month, Chelise Stroud Hery's Altered Everything ~ Everything Altered workshop was on Altered Art Dolls - if you haven't seen their fabulous creations - check it out!

If you would like to come on over to The ZNE Studios and play with and create an altered coin holder book and bookmark kit of your own - then sign up for the upcoming Altered Everything ~ Everything Altered workshop!

Monday Meet a Member ~ Chelise Stroud Hery

Chelise Stroud Hery is a professional mixed media artist living in the San Francisco Bay Area.  In addition to being a whimsical artisan whose work is collected by patrons worldwide, Chelise also has extensive experience providing art and art-business related workshops.  She is known for being a talented and engaging public speaker.

Chelise’s artwork was juried in to the 2002 Pro Arts Gallery (Oakland, CA) Emerging Artists show, and she has sold pieces in other local galleries as well.  However, Chelise is largely a self representing artist and she has made building a support structure and community of fellow self representing artists a cornerstone of her professional life.

Among her many accomplishments, Chelise is the founder of the international mixed media art group, variaZioNE (or, ZNE).  ZNE is well known in the mixed media art community as a vibrant and active group, and it boasts over 1,000 members worldwide.

In the summer of 2006, Chelise also founded The Pleasanton Craft Mafia.  The Pleasanton Craft Mafia is a San Francisco Bay Area local group comprised of 100+ artisans who collaborate on art and craft shows, workshops, and social outings. 

A California Native, Chelise has completed courses in art history and the creative process through the Cal State East Bay University system ~ however, she is primarily self taught.  Her teaching style incorporates her emphasis on the joy of creating as opposed to flawless technique.

Wednesday Workshops

Oooh! It's Wednesday Workshop day, the day that we feature or focus on local art and small business workshops that are taught by, or of interest to our members.

This week we are highlighting the Altered Everything ~ Everything Altered workshop which is an altered art project oriented workshop that takes place once a month at The ZNE Studio in Pleasanton (and occasionally at other local Bay Area art studios).
