Big news and lots of updates will be posted in the upcoming days and weeks - to the Hope Sees A Star blog. In the meantime, ZNE received a lovely note from Stevie's mother - Gina Gabriell, and she wanted me to share it with all our members:
I am sitting her in tears...I am so touched by the donations and the kind words.
Could you please forward this...
To those of you who have sent kind words, donations, and loving thoughts I thank you.
Losing a child is the most painful thing a mother will ever have to experience. It is like being lost at sea. You are all salty tears and floating day after day waiting and wondering.
In villages in many places in the world a grieving mother is surrounded and cared for. The entire village mourns with her. They try in their own way to take a tiny bit of her sorrow so she will not have to carry it all herself.
Who would have thought that here were there are no villages, where people sometimes don't even know their neighbors that Iva and I would experience this same loving embrace from our community.
Nothing can heal this loss, but the kindness helps me to endure, to believe in the goodness of all things again.
I am an artist, and my daughter now has butterfly wings someplace where the sky is 1950's blue, the air smells like cotton candy, and time is a clock with no hands. I can see my daughter throwing her hands up like a tulip and saying, "Hey ya Mom what took you so long"
I will say, "I was stuck in my studio under piles of paper, paint, ink and fabric making stuff and thinking about you while my hair turned grey and the calender faded"
I will tell her I was never alone.
Thank you lovely friends for reaching out,
Heartfelt,
Gina Gabriell
